Barbara Sullivan is the owner of Barb's Cakes in Alabaster.
After making cakes for co-workers at LabCorb, Sullivan decided to do baking and catering full time. In 2009, she was cast as a contestant on TLC's "Ultimate Cake Off" reality show. Her episode, which aired April 12, 2010, required her and her team to create a cake honoring Los Angeles firefighters. Her cake, featuring a life-sized replica of a firefighter, placed 2nd in the competition. It stood 7 feet tall and weighed over 800 pounds.
Sullivan and her husband, Cliff, met in college and are members of First Baptist Church of Alabaster, which hosted a viewing party for "Ultimate Cake Off".
