Bessemer City Schools are administered by the Bessemer Board of Education to serve the City of Bessemer. Its offices are located at 1621 5th Avenue North.

Superintendent Fred Primm, Jr was appointed to succeed interim superintendent Michael Foster after his retirement on July 1, 2011. Foster assumed the job from Deborah Horn.

The system's total average daily enrollment for the 20102011 school year is 4,555.
