Birmingfind

Birmingfind was a history and culture project sponsored by the Birmingham Alliance for the Humanities with funding from the National Endowment for the Humanities. The project focused on the history and culture of seven Birmingham neighborhoods (Elyton-West End, Ensley, Glen Iris, North Birmingham, Wenonah, Woodlawn and Wylam) and five area ethnic groups (African Americans, Greeks, Italians, Jews, and Lebanese). The group published several pamphlets and a 1981 calendar as part of its effort to make residents more aware of the broad experience of local history. The project's director was Jeff Norrell, assisted by Karen Rolen, with offices at Birmingham-Southern College.

A collection of photographs and other documentary materials gathered for the project is maintained by the Birmingham Public Library Archives.
