Harry Blackwell "Buck" Brock III (born April 9, 1955 in Rochester, New York; died November 3, 2023 in Birmingham) was a bank executive and executive vice president and vice president for business affairs at Samford University.
Brock was the son of Central Bank founder Harry Brock Jr. He graduated from the University of Alabama with a bachelor of science in 1977. He interned at his father's bank and eventually rose to president of Central Bank in Huntsville and later in Birmingham.
Brock left banking in 1994 to become president of the Express Oil Development Company. He joined the board of trustees at Samford in 1998 and succeeded Joseph Mathews Jr as vice president for business affairs in 2007. He was named executive vice president of the university in 2015. He retired from Samford in 2022.
On October 31, 2023, Samford named a central lobby in the Ralph W. Beeson University Center, Buck Brock Commons in his honor. The room is the oldest part of the University Center and was originally the campus dining facility.
Brock and his wife Nancy had two children. They attended Mountain Brook Baptist Church. Their home on Sterling Road in Redmont Park was renovated in 2009 by the Williams Partnership architects and featured in Birmingham magazine.
Brock died in November 2023. He was buried at Elmwood Cemetery.
