Cas McWaters is the principal of Vestavia Hills High School, appointed by the board on April 26, 2006. He previously held the same position at Tarrant High School.

McWaters was on the faculty at Vestavia Hills for 24 years, serving as Assistant Principal and assistant baseball and football coach and teaching science classes.

McWaters, an active member of Shades Mountain Baptist Church is also known as a vocalist for gospel and contemporary Christian music. In 2006 he organized a recording project that combined several area choirs from the Birmingham Baptist Association for the CD "Best of Birmingham", the proceeds from which will support tsunami recovery efforts and missionary work in Indonesia.

McWaters' wife, Deborah, is also an accomplished vocalist.
