David Merrida Jr is associate director of the Birmingham Construction Industry Authority.
Merrida ran unsuccessfully for the District 9 seat on the Birmingham Board of Education in 2005 and 2009 municipal elections.
In 2016 contractor Chris Woods accused Bell and Merrida of demanding kickbacks from his business, C. W. Woods Contracting, in order to receive assistance from the BCIA.
