Donald Harwell (born c. 1954) ran unsuccessfully three times for a seat on the Vestavia Hills City Council.

In the 2008 election, held on August 26, he lost to incumbent Jim Sharp. Harwell's indentical twin brother David was also unsuccessful in his run for Place 3.

Both Harwells graduated from Berry High School and UAB and are life-long residents of Vestavia Hills.
