East Lake is a community and former town which was annexed into Birmingham on January 1, 1910 as part of the Greater Birmingham annexation campaign. Today the community includes the neighborhoods of Brown Springs, Gate City, North East Lake, Wauhoma, Zion City and the East Lake neighborhood.
The East Lake community is located north of the Woodlawn, east of the Crestwood, south of the Roebuck-South East Lake, and west of the Huffman communities along 1st Avenue North and Interstate 59, and includes East Lake Park.
