Five Points West is a name given to the intersection of Bessemer Road (U. S. Highway 11) and Warrior Road with Ensley Avenue (now Ensley Five Points West Avenue), where routes converge from Ensley, Fairfield, Bessemer and Birmingham, west of the Alabama State Fairgrounds.

The heavy concentration of traffic generated by industrial development in the western area led the Shepherd Sloss Investment Company to invest in the construction of the Five Points West Shopping City. That development in 1941 established the "Five Points" name, recalling the older Five Points South.
