General Clay Apartments is a 40-unit complex located at 3001 Exeter Avenue, on the northeast corner of the intersection with 30th Street South just south of Dartmouth Avenue in Bessemer.
The 27,900 square-foot building was constructed in 1969. The two-story brick structure has exterior walkways to each door. It was built surrounding a rectangular courtyard which once had a swimming pool. The 1-3 bedroom units are available to renters with Section 8 vouchers. The building was 95% occupied in the summer of 2008 when the property sold for $800,000.
