The Well and the Mine

Gin Phillips is a freelance writer and the author of the 2008 novel The Well and the Mine, set in 1931 in Carbon Hill. The novel received the 2008 Barnes & Noble "Discover Award" for fiction.

Phillips grew up in Montgomery and graduated from Birmingham-Southern College in 1997. She is a regular contributor to Birmingham Weekly, and her work has also been featured in American Profile, American Spirit, Platinum, and Women's World.

Phillips recently completed a fantasy novel for young adult readers entitled Aovist and is working on a second novel, a mystery set in a rural New Mexico archaeological site.
