H. T. Morton was a photographer who opened a studio on the 2nd floor of the building at 2008–2010 1st Avenue North in Downtown Birmingham in 1899.

Morton came to Birmingham from Marion, Perry County, where he advertised the services of a photographic studio alongside a "Southern Solar Printing House".
