Howell Hubert Vines (born November 1, 1898 in Jefferson County - ) was a novelist and short story writer. He was the son of Lawrence and Fanny Vines of Jefferson County and earned his bachelor of arts from the University of Alabama. He then went on to get his master's degree from Harvard University.

In addition to publishing two novels and several stories, Vines taught English at Rice Institute in Houston, Texas and at the University of Richmond, Virginia and Shorter College in Rome, Georgia.
