Hueytown Public Library is located at 1372 Hueytown Road in Hueytown. The library is a member of the Jefferson County Library Cooperative.

In 1965, Hueytown mayor Wallace Watson appointed the first library board, with Steve Christian as chairman. THe library officially opened on June 7, 1969 in a small hallway inside Hueytown City Hall. It was then moved to the mayor's office, then to a room adjacent to the mayor's office, and finally in March 1975 was moved to the space on the lower floor of the city hall which had been designated for the city's jail but had not been used for such.

In 1990 the former Foodland grocery store building in Knight's Triangle between Hueytown Road and High School Road was renovated and the library was moved into the larger location, freeing up space for the Hueytown Police Department to expand.
