James H. Mullin (born August 2, 1857; died September 27, 1903 in Birmingham) was a patrol officer for the Birmingham Police Department who was killed on duty.
Mullin arrested a black man named Henry King as a suspect for assault and attempted murder. King took his gun and shot Mullin to death on 2nd Avenue North near 27th Street.
Mullin, who resided at 518 23rd Street North, was buried at East Lake Cemetery following a funeral service at Ruhama Baptist Church led by J. M. Shellbourne.
In July 1904 the Birmingham Police Relief Association dedicated a monument in his honor at the cemetery. Judge N. B. Feagin gave a euology, followed by Samuel Weaver and Chief William Wier.
