Haswell attended Carroll High School in Ozark, graduating in [[1999]]. He earned a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering at the [[UAB School of Engineering]] in [[2003]] and returned to complete a master's in civil engineering in [[2008]]. In addition to his role with Southern Company, Haswell is president of the [[Birmingham Chapter of Professional Engineers Without Borders]]. He was named "Young Engineer of the Year" by the [[Engineering Council of Birmingham]] in [[2006]].
