Joseph L. Moudry (born September 27, 1947; died October 16, 2021) was a technical training specialist for BellSouth, a staff member of the UAB Office of Academic Computing & Technology, a zine publisher, and producer and host of "Classic Jazz" on WUAL-FM, Alabama Public Radio.
Moudry graduated from Hueytown High School, where he was president of the Science Club and 1st vice president of the Spanish Club, in 1964. At the University of Alabama he played trumpet in the Million Dollar Band, led by Carlton Butler. After college he served with the Peace Corps and worked at Bryce Hospital before returning to school to earn a master's in library science.
In the mid 1970s, Moudry published a fanzine entitled "The Arkham Anchorite" which was distributed by The Esoteric Order of Dagon, a quarterly publication of amateur scholarship relating to the work of author H. P. Lovecraft. In 1980, Moudry published "Fingertip Reality", a zine distributed through the Southern Fandom Press Alliance. In 1981 he was tapped to succeed Roger Bryant as official editor of The Esoteric Order of Dagon. He was also briefly the official editor for the Pulp Era Amateur Press Society, founded by Lynn Hickman in 1987.
Moudry died of cancer in 2021. His memorial service was held at Trinity Episcopal Church in Bessemer.
