Laymen's Chapel Christian Methodist Episcopal Church is located in East Birmingham on Vanderbilt Road. Its cornerstone is dated 1967 and lists E.D. Williams as the pastor, T.A. Pratt as the presiding elder and E.P. Murchison as bishops. Trustees listed on the cornerstone are E.W. Windham, L.J. Pritchett, A.G. Smith, N.E. Wills, Sr, E. Bush and W.M. Brookings.. The church had closed prior to 2021 as the neighborhood immediately to its south had been razed and replaced by Greenwood Park.
