Living Word Baptist Church was founded as Antioch Baptist Church in 1894. In 1913 it changed its name to 4th Avenue Baptist Church and in 1948 erected a new masonry building in at 2720 4th Avenue South.

In 2002 it adopted the name Living Word Baptist Church.
