Marissa N. Dean is a researcher and assistant professor at the UAB School of Medicine's Department of Neurology. Her research, funded in part by public and private grants, focuses on genetic factors in movement disorders, including Parkinson's Disease.

Dean earned her M.D. at Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan in 2012 and completed her internship at the St John Hospital and Medical Center in the same city. She went on to complete a residency at the Detroit Medical Center in 2016. She was certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology that year and joined UAB's faculty while she completed a postdoctoral fellowship in 2018.
