Mayor of Alabaster is the elected leader of the Shelby County city of Alabaster. Alabaster mayor's serve four-year terms. Currently a City Administrator handled much of the day-to-day business of city departments.

History

The first mayor was George Scott Jr, son of the founder of the Alabaster Lime Company and himself president of the First Bank of Alabaster.

Roger Wheeler served as mayor for three terms from 1984 to 1996.

Alabaster City Council president Steve Rauch defeated Wheeler's re-election bid in 1996. The two went to a runoff with Rauch gaining 54% of the runoff vote.

After one term, David Frings defeated Rauch's re-election bid in 2000. Frings was re-elected in 2004 and again on August 26, 2008 with 56% of the vote.

Marty Handlon defeated Frings in the 2012 election, becoming the city's first full-time mayor. She was re-elected twice, but lost to challenger Scott Brakefield in the 2020 election.
