Mayor of Clay is the elected head of Clay's city government. The position was established in 2000, shorty after the city incorporated. Clay's mayors serve four-year terms.
History
Charles Hart was elected as Clay's first mayor on July 11, 2000 with 82 percent of the vote. He was re-elected in 2004 with no opposition on the ballot.
In the 2008 municipal elections, Hart's re-election bid was defeated by Ed McGuffie. McGuffie took 51% of the vote and won without a runoff. Vic Aldridge and Dean Kirkner also challenged Hart in the race.
McGuffie ran for re-election in 2012, but was defeated by city councilor Charles Webster.
