McCalla is an unincorporated community in western Jefferson County centered at the intersection of Flint Hill Road and Powder Plant Road, just south of Bessemer near the I-20/59 junction with I-459.

The community is named for R. C. McCalla, chief engineer of the South and North Railroad. The McCalla Post Office, which was established in 1873, is now designated with ZIP code 35111.

The community is served by McAdory Elementary School, McAdory Middle School and McAdory High School in the Jefferson County School System.
