Rooney is the oldest son of actor Mickey Rooney and his second wife, the former "[[Miss Birmingham]]" [[B. J. Baker|Betty Jane Rase]]. He and his younger brother, [[Tim Rooney|Tim]] were tapped as backup Mouseketeers on the original "The Mickey Mouse Club" television series in [[1955]]. He landed his first film role in "Hot Rods to Hell" ([[1967]]) and also appeared in "Honeysuckle Rose" and the telefilm "Beyond the Bermuda Triangle". Later he joined Mickey, Jr and half-brother Teddy Rooney as "The Rooney Brothers" on Columbia Records.

Joseph Yule III, known as Mickey Rooney Jr (born July 3, 1945 in Birmingham) is an actor, musician and television producer.

Rooney is the oldest son of actor Mickey Rooney and his second wife, the former "Miss Birmingham" Betty Jane Rase. He and his younger brother, Tim were tapped as backup Mouseketeers on the original "The Mickey Mouse Club" television series in 1955. He landed his first film role in "Hot Rods to Hell" (1967) and also appeared in "Honeysuckle Rose" and the telefilm "Beyond the Bermuda Triangle". Later he joined Mickey, Jr and half-brother Teddy Rooney as "The Rooney Brothers" on Columbia Records.

In 1970 Rooney married Merci Montello (Playboy's December 1972 centerfold). His third wife was Laura Hollander, with whom he founded "The Lord's Link Ministry". After her death in 2006 he married his current wife, Christi Brown.
