The muaythai competition at the 2022 World Games took place on July 15, July 16, and July 17 at Boutwell Auditorium. Muaythai has been an event since the the 2017 World Games at Wrocław, Poland, and the Birmingham edition marked the second time muaythai was included as a regular event at the World Games. Muaythai was classified within the martial arts discipline.
Muaythai, sometimes referred to as Thai boxing, is a combat sport that uses stand-up striking along with various clinching techniques. This discipline is known as the "art of eight limbs", as it is characterized by the combined use of fists, elbows, knees and shins.
