Park Tower

Park Tower, originally Park Tower Apartments, is an 11-story, 110-unit condominium tower at 2717 Highland Avenue South. It was developed by attorney I. T. Cohen of Atlanta, Georgia with Birmingham's Simon A. Cohen & Associates in 1968.

Construction of the Park Tower commenced in November 1967 with a projected cost of $2.75 million. The design, by Brandon Crawford & Associates, featured 107 total units. First floor residents have over-sized terraces and 10-foot ceilings, while the penthouses feature complete views of Vulcan Park, Sloss Furnace, and the Birmingham skyline. R. N. Hoar & Son was the general contractor, and First National Bank of Birmingham provided construction financing. The building was topped-out on June 29, 1968 and opened to residents in November 1968.

Shortly after opening as luxury apartments, the building was converted into Birmingham's first fee-simple condominium project. In addition to the residential units, the modern structure also has one commercial unit. The facility features a swimming pool, poolside club room, on-site salon, parking garage, full-time building manager, and on-site security service.
