Pelham City Schools is an independent school system established by the City of Pelham in 2014. The system currently operates four schools.

History

The Pelham City Council approved the formation of a new city school board on September 9, 2013.

The transfer of property, employee contracts, and $9.2 million in debts from Shelby County Schools to the new school system took place on July 1, 2014. The Linda Nolen Learning Center in Pelham, operated by Shelby County Schools, was not transferred.

Pelham's Board of Education is made up of five members, appointed by the Pelham City Council to represent individual districts, and rotating with one member's term expiring each year.
