The Protective Center is a 28-acre office campus which serves as the headquarters of Protective Life Corporation insurance company. The site, just south of Mountain Brook's Office Park with access from U.S. Highway 280 and Cahaba Road, was formerly the location of the Fairmont Country Club.

Protective Center 1 or the Protective Life building is a 135,000 square-foot office building constructed in 1976 to replace Protective Life's former downtown headquarters. Architects Welton, Becket & Associates of Houston, Texas designed the mirrored-glass clad building. Zion and Breen of New York, New York prepared the landscape design that separated the offices from its parking lots across a landscaped courtyard.

Protective Center 3 is a 7-story, 310,000 square-foot office building.
