Rick Kurtz is a session guitar player, known for performing with Topper Price and Delbert McClinton, and for heading Chuck Berry's back-up band at the 1989 City Stages. Kurtz has also been a member of The Mortals and Mike & the Maximums, and toured with Webb Wilder and T. Graham Brown.
In April 2010 Kurtz suffered a stroke and was hospitalized for a month in Nashville, Tennessee. A benefit concert to help pay his medical expenses was organized by Mark Harrelson at the Moonlight on the Mountain music hall.
