John Scott Vowell (born c. 1937 in Calhoun County) is a former judge who presided over the 10th Judicial Circuit of Alabama until his retirement in 2013.

Vowell has served on the boards of the Greater Alabama Council Boy Scouts of America, Opera Birmingham, the Alabama Ballet, and the Birmingham Public Library.

Vowell earned a bachelor of science at Auburn University in 1959 and a law degree at the University of Virginia in 1961.

Vowell and his wife Cameron have one son, John Scott Vowell, Jr.
