Six Blocks Wide is a short film directed by Yuri Shapochka. In the film a porch-bound grandmother, played by Tonea Stewart, assumes responsibility for preserving the peace in her impoverished neighborhood. The screenplay was written by Teresa Thorne, a former Birmingham Police Department captain who is now the executive director of the City Action Partnership which patrols the downtown business district.

Cinematographer David Brower shot the 10-minute film in Norwood.
