The Southside reunion is an annual get-together for residents of the Southside neighborhood -- primarily for those displaced by the development of UAB and the Elton B. Stephens Expressway. The annual event was started in 1985 and the current president is Joe Grant. The City of Birmingham and UAB help sponsor the program, which is held at George Ward Park and other locations.
