Surin West is a Thai restaurant at 1918 11th Avenue South in Five Points South.
The restaurant was Surin Techarukpong's first restaurant in Birmingham after successful restaurants opened in the Atlanta Shropshire & Daniel Building at 1920–1922 11th Avenue South and served Thai cuisine slightly modified for an American palate.
In 1999 Surin West added sushi to the restaurant's menu. The business expanded westward into the former Five Points Theatre at 2014 11th Avenue South, and later eastward into the Five Points Grocery building at 2024 11th Avenue South, originally as a distinct-but-connected martini and dessert bar, and later as part of the restaurant's regular dining area. That space was later given up.
Surin West underwent a major remodeling in 2016, which included refurbishing the former theatre facade.
Techarukpong has opened several other "Surin" restaurants in the Birmingham District.
