The TV Alabama tower is a 2,000 foot-tall guyed television mast located west of Blue Creek Road between Windham Springs and the Black Warrior River in Tuscaloosa County. It was built in 1996 for the western area broadcast of WBMA-TV (ABC 33/40).
In 1995 WCFT-TV in Tuscaloosa and WJSU-TV in Anniston were purchased by Allbritton Communications of Arlington, Virginia, under its TV Alabama subsidiary, and made simulcast partners of the low-powered, Birmingham-based W58CK-TV. The "trimulcast" arrangement, marketed as ABC 33/40, debuted in 1996 and WCFT's call letters were changed to WBMA-TV in 1997.
The tower currently simulcasts WTTO-TV as WDBB-TV (virtual channel 17, UHF digital channel 14) and the "Heroes & Icons" network on WSES-TV (virtual channel 33, UHF digital channel 36).
