Random note

  • John P. Snyder (1886-1948) toured internationally with various circuses (Including Barnes-Carruthers, Gus Sun, Ernie Young, Orrin Davenport and E. K. Fernandez). A former aerialist, he began training bears later in life. In addition to his live act, he provided animal performers for the films We're Not Dressing (1934) and The Red Stallion (1947). He died just a few months after his performance here, after a long hospital stay in Chicago. He was survived by his wife and partner, Elizabeth, and one son. He is buried at the Diamond Grove Cemetery in Jacksonville. His newly-bought custom 2 1/2 ton Studebaker truck with built-in cages and bunk beds was sold by his son.
