Theatre Downtown is a live-theatre production company which staged performances at 5th Avenue Antiques, 2410 5th Avenue South.

The group was founded in 2006 by Billy Ray Brewton and Cindy deSa as an alternative to existing live-theatre groups operating in Birmingham, leaning towards cutting-edge contemporary theatre.

The troup originally began performing at The Playhouse at 1818 3rd Avenue North in 2006, and moved temporarily to the basement of the Birmingham AIDS Outreach at the Swann & Co. Building at 205 32nd Street South before moving to the 5th Avenue South location in 2009. They were forced to relocate again when that building was sold for redevelopment in 2019, but the COVID-19 pandemic has slowed the process.

The company is now run by a board of directors as a non-profit entity.

Theatre Downtown also hosts showings of films in their "Rare and Used Film Series".
