Tommy Moon

Thomas H. "Tommy" Moon (born March 12, 1952; died October 24, 2009) was chief of the Calera Fire Department for 20 years and a member for 33. During his tenure the department grew from a volunteer unit to a full-time department.
Moon had successfully battled leukemia in the summer of 2009, but contracted pneumonia that fall and died in the hospital. On November 16, 2009, the Calera City Council unanimously voted to name the city's No. 1 fire station the Tommy H. Moon Fire Station in his honor.
