Uncle Mort's Family Restaurant is a Southern-style family restaurant located at 9415 U. S. Highway 78 near Jasper. It was opened in 1971 by Morton and Jean Godfrey and became a landmark destination on the highway, known for its cathead biscuits with sorghum molasses, sugar-cured or smoked ham, and pork tenderloin. The rustic cedar-sided building features two fireplaces in the dining room and also houses a gift shop with crafts and antiques for sale.
On August 1, 2008 a fire destroyed about half of the building.
