William Henry Morris (born 1817 in Rome, Georgia) was the third mayor of Birmingham (from 1875 to 1878). He was a member of the Morris family that played a large roll in the creation of Birmingham. William was the brother of Shadrach (Shades) Morris who founded the original trading post where Birmingham was later founded.
Morris was born to a very large family in Rome, Georgia. Later in his life, he married Anna Neal. When Morris moved to Geneva, Alabama, the pair had several children, but only one child remained in the state.
