11th Street North
11th Street North is a north-south street in Fountain Heights on the western end of downtown Birmingham's business district, running alongside I-65.
A short section runs from 1st Avenue North to the alley between 1st and 2nd Avenue. The street then resumes, as a 3-lane one-way street, at 3rd Avenue North and continues to 6th Avenue North, past which the left lanes become an on-ramp for I-65. 11th Street continues as a one-way street for two blocks, ending at Reverend Abraham Woods Jr Boulevard (8th Avenue North).
Prior to the replacement of the I-20/59 downtown viaduct, which began in 2015, 11th Street continued north for another block, to 9th Avenue North. During that work, an offramp, I-65 Exit 261A, was constructed from I-65's northbound lanes to 17th Street North at Reverend Abraham Woods Jr Boulevard.
North of Malfunction Junction another short section of 11th Street North runs alongside Fountain Heights Park then jogs east and continues as far as 16th Avenue North.
