16th Cross Pearson
16th Cross Pearson Wearable Art Gallery is a shop specializing in unique wearable art. It was founded by Tanya Pugh-Johnson in July 2024 and is located in the Mercantile on Morris mixed-use development at 2215 1st Avenue North in Downtown Birmingham.
Pugh-Johnson named the business in honor of her grandmothers, who lived on 16th Street North in Fountain Heights and on Pearson Avenue in Arlington-West End. It is intended as a "storefront for creatives" and stocks unique garments from a variety of artists, including Aaliyah Taylor, A. Nichel, Nikki Manning Huntley, Bradford Caddell, Pansey Nelson, Samuel Kane, and Allyson Ragland; as well as young artists participating in The Flourish Alabama. The shop also works with fashion stylists and takes commissions for custom work.
