2024 Sidewalk Film Festival
The 2024 Sidewalk Film Festival, held on August 19-25, 2024 was the 26th in the annual series. The theme for the festival was "Women Lead Film", and first slate of features selected for screening were all directed by women.
The opening night film, screened at the Alabama Theater, was Titus Kaphar's "Exhibiting Forgiveness", a narrative feature about an artist's relationship with his father starring André Holland. Other venues included the Sidewalk Film Center at The Pizitz, the Birmingham Museum of Art, the Carver Theatre, the Lyric Theatre, the Alabama School of Fine Arts, and First Methodist Church.
Special "tracks" on the festival program included the "Shout" festival for films examining LGBTQ+ subjects; the "Black Lens" track for film made by and about people of color; a "Life and Liberty" track highlighting films dealing with civil and human rights; and an "Alabama Filmmakers" track for local productions.
Weekend passes for the 2024 festival were $125 ($320 for VIP passes). Day passes were $45. Tickets to individual screenings were $10 general admission and $15 guaranteed seating.
