Acme Theatres Inc. was a holding company formed in 1933 by Sallie Wise and Frank Merritt to own the properties on which their chain of movie theaters operated.
It was a successor to the former Wise Theatres company, co-founded by Sallie's husband, Marvin, and Merritt's Magic Amusement Co. It existed simultaneously with Galax Theatres, the company which operated the cinema houses. These related companies were sometimes referred to as the Wise interests or the Merritt interests. The company's business address was shared with the Empire Theater at 2012 3rd Avenue North.
John Douglas was general manager of Acme Theatres in 1965.
