Alabama State House of Representatives, District 73 is a legislative district In 2010 the district had 48,266 residents, of which 48% were Black and 44% were white.

Prior to redistricting following the 2010 U.S. Census, District 73 was located in Montgomery County.

Between 2010 and 2020, District 73 was moved to Shelby County and included Pelham, eastern Helena, the eastern and southern areas of Alabaster, northern Montevallo, small parts of Chelsea and Calera, and a section of rural Shelby County west of I-65.

Matt Fridy's election to the Alabama Court of Civil Appeals in the 2020 general election led to a special election to fill his seat in July 2021.

Following the 2020 census, the western sections and an arm extending toward Indian Springs Village were removed from District 73 in exchange for a greater proportion of the city of Alabaster.
