Alabama Senate District 5
Alabama State Senate District 5 is a voting district which elects a member of the Alabama State Senate. It includes the western edge of Jefferson County and portions of Fayette, Lamar, Tuscaloosa and Walker counties.
Municipalities in the district include Berry, Carbon Hill, Detroit, Fayette, Jasper, Kennedy, Parrish, Sipsey, Sulligent and Vernon.

History
2000 redistricting
Following the 2000 U.S. census, District 5 included all of Walker County and portions of Jefferson, [[Tuscaloosa County|Tuscaloosa], and Winston counties.
2010 redistricting
After of the 2010 census, the district encompasses 134,976 residents; 88% white and 10% black.
From 2010 to 2020 District 5 included all of Fayette and Walker Counties along with western Jefferson County, northern Tuscaloosa County and southern Winston County.
Municipalities formerly in the district included Double Springs and Lynn.
2025 special election
A special election to fill the seat vacated by Greg Reed was held in 2025. Primaries were scheduled for March 11 with runoffs on April 8, and the general special election was scheduled for June 24.
