Birmingham Apothecary
Birmingham Apothecary is a pharmacy located at 1032 20th Street South in Birmingham's Five Points South neighborhood.
The business opened in 1914. In the 1920s it was located on the 6th floor of the Empire Building in Downtown Birmingham. It was incorporated by Sam and David Jones with George Wright in 1929. In 1938 it merged with the Medical Arts Apothecary and moved into the Medical Arts Building at 1021 20th Street South. Fletcher Gray was one of the operators there. In 1961 the business was reincorporated by Jay Buffington, William Hassell, and James Fullan Jr. In 1970 it merged with the Norwood Clinic Pharmacy.
The Birmingham Apothecary moved across the street during the development of Pickwick Plaza in the mid-1980s. In 1988 it was reincorporated by Marshall Mezzell.
Since 2019 it has been owned and operated by Ankit "A. J." Patel.
