Buddy Choat was the Mayor of Trussville from three terms, from 2016 to 2025.
Choat graduated from Huffman High School and attended the University of South Alabama. He worked for Wood Fruitticher before retiring.
Choat defeated Jonathan Barbee to represent Place 3 on the Trussville City Council in 2008 municipal election. He was one of two challengers to 4-term incumbent mayor Gene Melton in the 2016 municipal election. He won a runoff against Anthony Montalto to claim the office.
Choat announced in October 2024 that he would not seek a 3rd term as Mayor.
