Dicky Barlow
Richard C. "Dicky" Barlow is assistant superintendent of Mountain Brook Schools.
Barlow earned his bachelor's degree, his certification for Science Education, and his Master’s of Education in Administration and Supervision from Georgia State University. He began his educational career as a science teacher and basketball and track coach in the Atlanta area. He eventually became an assistant principal in Lithonia, Georgia before moving to Alabama and becoming assistant principal of Mountain Brook High School in 1996.
Barlow was promoted to principal effective July 1, 2002 when previous principal David Stiles was promoted to director of organizational development for the school system. During this time, he earned an Educational Specialist degree from the University of Montevallo. Barlow held the principal position for six years before being assigned to the newly created assistant superintendent position.
In 2009 he was selected to succeed Charles Mason as superintendent of schools.
