Huffman Middle School is a middle school in the Birmingham City Schools system located at 517 Huffman Road in the Huffman neighborhood, for which it is named. Genita Matthews is the current principal.
The school originated as the Oak Grove Academy, which was established in the area in 1878 and rebuilt in stone in 1920. It was operated by Jefferson County Schools until 1954. The present building, which originally served grades 1 through 8 as Huffman Elementary School, was constructed in 1958. In 1980 a new elementary school building was constructed and Huffman Middle School occupied the 1958 building. It originally housed a magnet program for science, language arts and math.
