John Carraway
John Charles Carraway (born January 11, 1949; died December 6, 2024) was an architect.
Carraway was the son of physician Charles A. Carraway. He graduated from Shades Valley High School and earned his bachelor's of architecture at the University of Tennessee. He also studied in Rome, Italy and pursued cycling and painting as hobbies.
Carraway began working as an editor at Southern Living, and also worked at Crawford, Giattina & Mitchel. He later partnered with Dick Pigford as Pigford & Carraway, later renamed Highland Partners.
That firm split in 1995 and Carraway opened his own firm, Carraway & Associates at 2177 11th Court South. He served on the vestry at the Church of the Advents, and as a trustee of the Oak Hill Memorial Association. He was also an active supporter of the Advent House and the Amistad Mission in Cochabamba, Bolivia.
Carraway had two children with his first wife, Martha, and another with his second wife, Liz.
Carraway died in December 2024.
